Maestra Spotlight: Maria Cerda

Maestra Maria Cerda has been dancing with Teocalli, a Fresno based adult folklorico group at Teocalli Cultural Academy for about 19 years now. With Teocalli, she has participated in several events at a local and national level, including: Fiesta en la Mision, Baja California; Festival de Bailes Tradicionales de Mexico, San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, MX; International Dance Festival, Las Vegas, NV; Folkclovisco, Calidanza, Festival Los Reyes, San Diego; and Ethnic Dance Festival in San Francisco.

Her involvement and experience working with different age level classes at Teocalli Cultural Academy has furthered her experience as a Folklorico instructor. Maestra Maria is currently the director at Kastner Intermediate School and Associate Director for Aguilas de Oro at Clovis West H.S. Since her first DUF in Hayward in 1998, Maestra Maria has been part of the DUF familia. Teaching at DUF is one of the things she looks forward to every year.

At DUF 2016

Maestra  Maria will be teaching Repertorio: Guerrero, Jalisco, and Nuevo Leon for 4th grade students at a beginner/intermediate level; ages 8-10.
