For DUF 2026 . . .

Fandango Tabasqueño Also known as Zapateado Tabasqueño, this traditional dance from Tabasco, Mexico, is rooted in Indigenous Mayan (Chontal) musical traditions performed by tamborileros using reed flutes and drums. While Indigenous in origin, it incorporates Afro-Caribbean rhythmic influences from the colonial period. The related Son Tabasqueño, a mestizo style, is performed with marimba and percussion in a lively 6/8 meter, similar to the huapango.
