Danzantes Unidos DUF 2026 “Nurturing the Light” welcomes Sara Moguel teaching Folklorico Juniors: Colima, Guerrero, & Nuevo Leon; ages 7 & 8

Sara Moguel was born In Villaflores, Chiapas and moved to California in 1992. She graduated with a master’s degree in Arts in teaching and obtained her Applied Behavior Analysis Certification. Sara danced with BFA de CSUN for over 15 years instilling in her the love for Mexican Folklórico dance. She has been teaching folklorico for 14 years in Simi Valley, California. She is now director of her own group, Ballet Folklorico Cielito Lindo de Simi Valley. Sara teaches ages 3 to adults. She was nominated as the 10 top Simi Valley community members who stood out and helped make a difference by using her passion for dance and to keep her culture alive. Sara has taught workshops for all ages, directed programs, and performed to diverse audiences in different events. In a relentless endeavor to perfect her dance skills and apply them to her teaching, Sara continues to further her skills by learning from different maestros and folklorico workshops along with ballet and other dance styles.

For DUF 2026 . . .

1. GUERRERO – Costa Chica: El Palomo
A lively courtship dance from Guerrero’s Costa Chica featuring Afro-Mexican rhythms, playful movements, and dynamic footwork that capture the joyful spirit of the coast.

2. NUEVO LEÓN – Me Traes de Una Ala
An northern dance full of vibrant polka rhythms and footwork that showcase the charm and vitality of Nuevo León. Girls will need a fan.

3. COLIMA – La Iguana
A theatrical and rhythmic dance that tells the humorous story of catching an iguana, blending footwork and skirt work with Colima’s graceful style.

Danzantes Unidos Festival DUF 2026 “Nurturing the Light” will take place March 27, 28 & 29 in Fresno, CA.
