Maestra Spotlight: Teresa Velez

Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Maestra Teresa Velez has participated in multiple groups around the state of Nuevo Leon including: Ballet Municipal de Nuevo Leon de Enrique Estrada in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Ballet Folklorico del Estado de Nuevo Leon de Jose I. Ibarra in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Instituto de Investigacion y Difusion de la Danza de Mexico Delegacion Nuevo Leon, and Ballet Folklórico Nayapan de Patricia Guerrero in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

She has extended her knowledge in the Folklorico community as founder and director of various groups such as: Ballet Folklórico Palenque in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. In California she founded and directs Paso del Norte Ballet Folklórico de Teresa Velez in Placentia CA. She currently serves as Treasurer for Coalicion de Folkloristas Unidos in Los Angeles, CA.

At DUF 2016

Maestra Velez will be teaching Repertorio: Jalisco, Nuevo Leon, and Yucatan for Kindergarten to first grade students, ages 4-6 at a beginner/intermediate level.
