Festival Sin Fronteras FSF 2023 Yucatan will take place in Merida, Yucatan from December 31, 2023 to January 5, 2024.  This is Danzantes Unidos fourth foray into Mexico for a weeklong intensive immersion into Mexican folk dance, music, folk art, history & gastronomy. Registration is open to Folklorico Directors and future directors and their families.

Danzantes Unidos is honored to present Maestro Humberto de Jesus Novelo Ascencio as the Festival Director for FSF 2023 Yucatán.  He has been active on our behalf with every detail from arranging the floor rental at the hotel to engaging Maestros that will delight and enlighten you during your journey.  Maestro Humberto is no stranger to us in the field of folklórico in the United States.  He has taught at ANGF 1981 and DUF 1983 in Los Angeles, CA. We are blessed to welcome him as a dance instructor, as well as, a Mayan Chiropractor at the festival. His healing work specializes in spine injuries, crushed sciatic nerve, centering of kneecaps and adjustments to the bones of the feet.  He travels internationally and has healed many dancers worldwide. Festival participants will have the opportunity to reserve a healing session with him.

Maestro Humberto will be accompanied by his assistant, RUBY GABRIELA CERVERA DORANTES. Maestra Ruby is officially certified as a Regional Dance Instructor. She has taught courses on Jarana Yucateca, alongside Prof. Novelo, throughout the US. She is a former soloist of the CTM Regional Ballet Folklorico where she currently serves as part of the teaching faculty. She has participated as a dance instructor throughout the Yucatan peninsula and currently directs her own dance academy TUUMBEN-HÁ (New Water in the Mayan language).  She is an expert in the ‘suerte’ of the Yucatecan Vaquería, dancing while balancing a tray, glasses and bottles.
