Danzantes Unidos DUF 2026 “Nurturing the Light” welcomes Manny Vizcarra teaching Folklorico High: Sinaloa Mestizo & Tamaulipas Norte; ages 13-17.

Manny Vizcarra is the Founder and Artistic Director of Tradición Dance Company, based in the Downtown Pomona Arts District. With over 25 years of experience in Mexican folklórico, he has become a leading cultural voice dedicated to preserving and elevating Mexico’s artistic heritage. Manny began dancing at the age of 7 and has trained with renowned folklórico masters in Mexico and the U.S., including Amalia Viviana Basanta Hernández of Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández. In 2010, he founded TDC to create a professional space where dancers celebrate culture through dynamic, theatrical productions. Under his direction, TDC has trained hundreds of dancers and produced acclaimed shows in professional venues. As Cultural Producer for the Fox Theater Pomona, Manny curates major community showcases all while continuing higher education, recently obtaining his Master of Public Health, degree linking arts, culture, and well-being. Danzantes Unidos is very proud to have Manny Vizcarra as a key member of the DUF Production Team as Artistic Director for DUF Showcase Concerts.

In this class, we’ll explore the distinctive style, musicality, and energy that make these regions so special. From the elegant polkas and lively zapateados of Tamaulipas Norte to the vibrant rhythms and festive flair of Sinaloa Mestizo.

I’ll be breaking down technique, partner work, and choreography while also sharing the historical and cultural context behind each region’s movement and costuming. My goal is to help dancers not only master the steps but also understand the story and spirit behind them.
