Netza Vidal

Netza Vidal was  Born in Compostela, Nayarit, Mexico, he studied Mexican Folkloric dance at the Escuela de la Danza Mexicana with Jaime Buentello Bazan. “Maestro Netza” trained as a professional dancer all his life, dancing in some of the most prestigious folklorico groups in Mexico. For twenty years, he has been an instructor and director of Mexican folkloric dance, beginning his career as dance director at San Rafael High School in Marin County. Maestro Netza is the general and artistic director, leading his company with its own unique style, costume designs, music and choreography. His dance companies have had the honor of performing for the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, Golden State Warriors Latinx pre-game and half time show, Oakland A’s Hispanic Day, San Francisco Giants Fiesta Gigante, California’s Six Flags Great America and a host of local and county fairs and many private events.

 

The mission of Ballet Folklorico Neyzahualcoyotl is to empower the community and to educate the general public by providing a greater understanding and appreciation for Mexican culture and folklore through music, dance and traditional art forms. The group is comprised of over 100 dancers throughout the Bay Area. Classes are offered for all ages from 4 years old to adults in Santa Rosa, San Rafael, Concord and Vacaville. BFN extends an invitation to all youth and adults interested in learning folklore.

Maestro: Netza Vidal

El huapango es un género musical mexicano basado en compás ternario, interpretado en diversas formas, las más conocidas son tres variantes: el huapango típico o son huasteco, interpretado por el trío huasteco; el huapango norteño, interpretado por conjunto norteño y el huapango de mariachi.  La palabra huapango parece ser derivada del vocablo náhuatl ‘cuauhpanco’, de cuahuitl, leño de madera, ipan, sobre el, co, lugar. Es decir, “sobre el tablado o sobre la tarima”.
El huapango de la huasteca hidalguense abarca los municipios de San Felipe Orizatlán, Huejutla de Reyes, Huautla, Xochiatipan, Atlapexco, Jaltocan, y Yahualica. Quiere decir que el huapango hidalguense se viste y se baila de manera diferente para cada municipio, aunque la práctica de dicho baile se ha extendido por el resto del territorio hidalguense.
