In the spotlight: Cesar Alejandro Orta

The accomplished Maestro Cesar Alejandro Orta began his dance career in the year 1989 under the direction of Maestra Rita Cobos Lugo. Post this, he formed part of the Ballet Folklórico Rarajipame del Cbtis 122 directed by Maestro Victor Barriga Gallegos. He is a graduate of the Escuela Superior de Danza Folklorica in Chihuahua, where he studied under Maestro Marcelo Torreblanca; and also an alumni from Escuela de la Danza Mexicana in Tepic, Nayarit where he studied under Maestro Jaime Buentello Bazan.

Maestro Orta has been a part of many Folklorico groups in vairous institutions: Cbtis 122, Instituto  Tecnológico de Chihuahua II, Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, y Secretaria de Agricultura, Ganadería y Desarrollo Rural. As a dancer, he has participated in many festivals, cultural encounters and competitions across Mexico as well as the United States and Europe. As a maestro, he has taught courses in Folklorico in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, and to a number of groups such as Ballet folklórico de la Universidad de Guanajuato, Ballet Mexcaltitán del Gobierno del Estado de Nayarit, Compañía de Danza Folklórica de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and Ballet Folklórico de la Universidad de Tamaulipas. Maestro orta has taught other groups in the Mexican states of Baja California, Sonora, Sinaloa, Colima, Tabasco, Yucatán, Michoacán, Estado de México, Jalisco, Coahuila and Distrito Federal.

He is the winner of the competition Nacional de Polka, “Prof. Jesús Daniel Andrade González,” in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon in 2006 and 2011. He has participated as a judge in various state-wide and national dance competitions, either traditional or modern dance. Today, Maestro Cesar directs the group Ballet Folklorico Nawezari del Cbtis 158. The group has toured in various parts of the Mexican Republic, Unites States and Europe. Currently, Mr. Orta teaches Folklorico dance in CEDART “David Alfaro Siqueiros” in the city of Chihuahua as part of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes.

At DUF 2016

Maestro Cesar will be teaching the region of Coahuila for ages 18 and over.
