Danzantes Unidos Festival DUF 2023 “BAILAR ES VIVIR” will take place on March 31, April 1 & 2 in Fresno, CA and honors the ongoing work of folklorico artists sharing culture and traditions across the United States and in Mexico. Registration is OPEN at www.danzantes.org . Early Registration ends Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

Lifelong Central Valley resident, Maestra Maria de Lourdes Cerda was born in Hanford, CA, and raised in Kettleman City, CA.  She currently resides in Clovis, CA.  She is director for Ballet Folklorico Sol del Valle, a community group based at the Kings Cultural Center in Armona, CA, as well as, Aguilas de Oro de Clovis West High School and Grupo Folklórico de Kastner Intermediate School.  She received her training with Grupo Folklorico Anahuac at Fresno City Community College. In addition to teaching folklorico, she is also a Graphic Designer, Zumba Instructor & Substitute Teacher for the Clovis Unified School District. Her goal is to soon be able to do some traveling out of the country and to continue work on her teaching credential. She enjoys crafting, hanging out with family and friends, and watching movies with her husband.

DUF 2023 (Age 9, Int/Adv) Folklorico Juniors: Baja California, Jalisco & Nayarit

Repertoire for DUF 2023 will include El son de mi tierra from Jalisco (girls will need a practice skirt);  Arriba Pichataro from Baja California (everyone is encouraged to bring a norte hat) and Toro Mambo from Nayarit Costa (girls will need a practice skirt and boys may use a hat). All three dances were created by Maestra Cerda with dance steps she learned from workshops with Maestro Juan Gil Martinez Tadeo, Maestro Cecilio Cordero Loaiza, and Maestro Nino Carrillo.

DUF 2023 will take place on March 31, April 1 & 2 in Fresno, CA.
