Danzantes Unidos DUF 2026 “Nurturing the Light” welcomes Cecilio DeCastro teaching Partnering Technique with focus on Aguascalientes, Michoacan Tierra Caliente & Zacatecas Jerez for Teens & Adults; ages 13+.

Cecilio DeCastro has been part of the folklorico community for the past 50 years. He has performed at various venues including performing with banda EL Recodo,Tigres del Norte, Pepe Aguilar Siempre en Domingo and performed in many European countries. He taught at UCLA and has worked with many university groups throughout California. He also continues to work with groups throughout California. Cecilio is the founder and director of CFU in Los Angeles and director of Grupo Esplendor.

For DUF 2026 . . .

This course focuses on partnering technique and folklórico dance styles from Aguascalientes, Michoacán (Tierra Caliente), and Zacatecas (Jerez). The course teaches how to dance with a partner by working on body posture, clear steps, turns, timing, and how partners move and share space together. Special attention is given to skirt movement, showing different regional styles and how the skirt supports the music and movement. Participants will learn how body movement and positions change when dancing as a couple and how to stay connected and balanced during performance. The course also includes basic information about traditional costumes and accessories, such as skirts, earrings, and hair pieces, and how they support movement and stage presence. In addition, participants will learn about the music and a brief history of each region. This course is designed for performers, instructors, and group directors who want to strengthen technique, perform with confidence, and improve presentations for the stage and community events.
