Maestra Spotlight – Ashley Lopez-Gonzalez
Ashley Lopez-Gonzalez is a folklorico dancer and instructor from San Jose, CA. She is the co-founder and Director of Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles; a traditional Mexican dance academy and professional company which in 2017 celebrates it’s tenth anniversary. With over twenty years of dance experience, she has presented her work all over California and studied under the top folk instructors of Mexico. As Los Laureles Director, Ashley is responsible for conceiving, developing, and implementing the artistic vision and focus of the organization. Maestra Ashley is a graduate of the Multicultural Artist Leadership Institute (MALI) Class 8.
At DUF 2017
4th Grade: Jalisco, Nuevo León, Sinaloa (beg/int)
Maestra Ashley Lopez-Gonzalez will be teaching repertoire from the states of Jalisco, Nuevo Leon, and Sinaloa. From Jalisco she will be teaching El Relampago with focus on sound, placement, and style. From Nuevo Leon she will be teaching a polka called La Grulla and from Sinaloa she will be teaching a popurri of El nino perdido, El Quelite, El Sauce y la Palma, and El Sinaloense.
DUF 2017 “Alma Indigena” will take place on April 7, 8 & 9 in Fresno, CA.
