DUF 2018 Spotlight – Maestra Blanca Araceli Soto
Maestra Blanca Araceli Soto is a veteran and accomplished actress, choreographer, director, producer and dancer. Her passion for the performing arts led her to study theater and dance at the University of Guadalajara, in her home-town. As a dancer, she has 40 years of experience working with international dance companies such as: Ballet Folklorico del Instituto Cultural Cabañas, Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez, Floricanto U.S.A., Los Angeles Mexican Dance Company, among others. Since 1996, Blanca Araceli has been the director and choreographer of Tierra Blanca Dance Company where she delights in creating a unique expression with her work based on the music and history from Mexico and Latinos in the USA. Maestra Blanca Araceli has created several cultural programs to support local folk dances such as Semblanza Latinoamericana, Crónicas de México, to name a few.
Her most recent work for film in the new Pixar/Disney film “COCO” is as the voice-over for character “The Emcee”. Of her experience, Maestra shares the following: “Toda esta experiencia de la película COCO, ha sido sin duda una de las mejores de mi carrera como actriz. Y el saber que millones de personas van a conocer más sobre esta hermosa tradición Mexicana a través de esta bellísima película me da una alegría enorme. ¡Y más que de una forma u otra tomamos parte en ella! La perspectiva de Mexico, de su gente, tradiciones y costumbres será apreciada de una forma muy bella y especial por el resto del mundo, cuando lo vivan y conozcan en COCO. Esta película refleja los grandes valores que tiene Mexico : la familia, la tradición y la alegría de vivir!”

At DUF 2018
Theater Dance Drama (Ages 18+) “La Maldicion de Malinche”
Maestra Blanca Soto will present a multi-disciplinary approach to staging “La Maldicion de Malinche”. This blog post will be updated with registration links and class details.
Registration for DUF 2018 workshops will open on December 15, 2017. Applications for DUF 2018 Showcase Concerts will open on January 15, 2018 and will require that three-fourths of your performers be already pre-registered for workshops.
DUF 2018 will take place on March 23-25 in Fresno, CA.
