Danzantes Unidos Festival DUF 2023 “BAILAR ES VIVIR” will take place on March 31, April 1 & 2 in Fresno, CA and honors the ongoing work of folklorico artists sharing culture and traditions across the United States and in Mexico. Registration is OPEN at www.danzantes.org . Early Registration ends Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

Maestro Uriel Ramirez began dancing at the age of 4 under the direction of his biggest inspiration–his father, Manuel Ramirez. His training first started with Ballet Folklórico Eterna Juventud. Later Mr. Ramirez expanded his dance training and went on to study dance at the Los Angeles High School of the Arts, where during his senior year was a National Young Arts Finalist in Mexican Folk Dance.  He has been a part of the cast of Disney ¡Viva Navidad! For several seasons and in April 2016 completed a national tour with Grammy Award winning group Los Lobos.

Uriel has had the opportunity to participate in workshops in Mexico City and Oaxaca to expand his knowledge and teaching. Having been exposed to the folk music all his life, Mr. Ramirez has found much joy composing music and sones. His love for this art form inspires his choreography. Mr. Ramirez continues to broaden his knowledge and hopes to inspire future generations of dancers in his community.

DUF 2023 (age 12, beg/int) – Folklorico Jr. High: Jalisco, Veracruz & Yucatan

Repertoire: Canto a Veracruz, from Veracruz; El Cofrecito from Jalisco & Reyna Grisel from Yucatán–a restaging of material learned from Maestro Cesar Orta at Danzantes Unidos.
