Irene Hernández has over 35 years of experience as a dancer and instructor. She has taught workshops in Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, Wyoming, Las Vegas and New Mexico. She has studied with over 30 Maestros from Mexico and the USA. She received a Key to The City of Carson, CA and was featured on K-ABC’s TV SHOW, “Vista LA” for all her accomplishments in folklorico.

Course description of Durango and Jalisco:
Irene Hernández is thrilled to be teaching Durango, the state in which her mother was born & raised. She will test your stamina with Las Virginas and El Jaral. Be ready to sweat!
She is also overjoyed with teaching Jalisco, the state in which her dad was born and raised. She will teach a technique filled combo to “La Chata” and a fast paced, heart pounding to ” El Huizache”. Please bring a blank cd if you would like the music.
Las polkas y shotis se bailaron en mezcla de cuadrilla, tomando mayor difusión durante la revolución mexicana. Se baila en su forma original, de corridita y de punto y talón, música que se conserva y se baila hasta nuestros días.
Los sones de Jalisco fueron formados durante la época colonial porque se mezclaban las razas españoles e indígena. Las melodías originaron por la fusion de las 2 razas. El estado de Jalisco es el más reconocido por su música de mariachi, traje de charro y el vestido tan bello de la mujer.
