Maestro Spotlight – Erik Diaz

12800287 10205991581456498 1538218900684765381 NMaestro Erik Noel Diaz was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. He began his training in Mexican Folklorico with Compañia Estatal de Danza Folklorica, Danza Matlachines del Cerro de la Bufa, and Instituto Superior de Danza Folklorica in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico. Continuing his passion for Folklorico, in California, Maestro Erik has choreographed pieces for Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company, Ballet Folklorico las Estrellas, Ballet Folklorico Anahuac, Ballet Folklorico Nube de Oro, and Ballet Folklorico IMBA. During his time in California, he has had the honor of training with top directors such as Jose Vences, Zenon Barron, Cesar Lara Bañuelos, and Cesar Orta. He continues to spread the knowledge and art of Folklorico as a dance instructor for Danzantes del Alma de UC Davis.

At DUF 2017

Folklorico High: Chihuahua & Zacatecas

Maestro Diaz will be teaching Sones con Tambora from Jerez, Zacatecas: Los Colorados y La Chirriona
and Polkas de Chihuahua: Parque Anahuac and Sobre Los Rieles which he recently choreographed and premiered at the 2016 San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival.

 

DUF 2017 “Alma Indigena” will take place on April 7, 8 & 9 in Fresno, CA.
