Danzantes Unidos Festival DUF 2020 announces the creation of the Adaptive Folklorico Dance class for all students across the spectrum of disAbilities to participate within the Folklorico Community.  This class will require ONE Accompanying Caregiver per enrollee to accompany each student and participate in class. Class size will be limited to 16 students and there is a required minimum of 12 students for this class to be offered.

Students enrolling within the Early and Regular Registration periods are entitled to entry to the Showcase Concerts.  While there is no charge for the Accompanying Caregiver to take the class; we do require that each caregiver purchase the Showcase Bundle by the online deadline of 2/20. Material to be taught will include dances from the States of Nuevo Leon & San Luis Potosi. Each student is asked to bring a water bottle, tejana hat (males) and abanico & practice skirts (females) to class.

Adaptive Folklorico Dance at DUF 2020 will be taught by Maestra Irene Hernandez, a DUF Veteran Instructor with over 40 years of teaching experience for all ages and all capabilities. Besides teaching for her dance company, Sabor de Mexico for the past 20 years, she has also taught at USC (University of Southern California). She has had the opportunity to teach workshops in Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico and Italy. Maestra Irene was formerly on the DU Board as Member-at-Large and Secretary. DUF 2020 will mark her 13th year as a Maestra at the Danzantes Unidos Festival.
