DUF 2023 (ages 18+) – San Luis Potosi

I will be teaching Sones Arribeños, the style known as Valonas de la Region Rio Verde del Estado de San Luis Potosi. These dances derive from the Spanish traditions of the trovadores which became mestizo traditions among the communities from the Sierra mountains in San Luis Potosi. I learned this region from Maestro Manuel Perez, who was a co-artistic director with me in Grupo Folklorico Los Alteños. Manuel attended the Asociacion de Maestros de la Danza Popular Mexicana in 2014 at San Luis Potosi. The 3 dances are: El Caballito, El Pajarillo, and Jarabe Rio Verde.
