Maestra Maria Cerda

Lifelong Central Valley resident, Maestra Maria de Lourdes Cerda was born in Hanford, CA, and raised in Kettleman City, CA.  She currently resides in Clovis, CA.  She is director for Ballet Folklorico Sol del Valle and Sol del Valle Clovis, Aguilas de Oro de CWHS and Grupo Folklórico de Kastner Intermediate School.  She received her training with Grupo Folklorico Anahuac at Fresno City Community College. In addition to teaching folklorico, she is also a Graphic Designer and a Substitute Teacher. Her goal is to soon be able to do some traveling out of the country. She enjoys crafting, hanging out with family and friends, and watching movies with her husband.

FOLKLORICO JR. HIGH: AGUASCALIENTES, BAJA CALIFORNIA & SINALOA

(Ages 10 to 11)
Maestra: Maria Cerda

I will be teaching, Baja California, Calabaceados – Bailamos Tia. Students are encouraged to bring a norte hat. Sinaloa Mestizo – El Sauce y la Palma. Girls will need a practice skirt and boys may use a hat. Aguascalientes – Vista Alegre/ Pelea de Gallos. Girls will need a practice skirt. Bailamos Tia and El Sauce y la Palma are created by me with dance steps I have learned from workshops I have attended. Giving credit for workshops to Maestro Juan Gil Martinez Tadeo and Maestro Nino Carrillo.

DUF 2024 “SEGUIMOS ADELANTE” will take place on March 22, 23 & 24, 2024 in Fresno, CA.
